I had originally thought to make no resolutions this year, so that I would have none to break. Yet there’s something about a new year that inspires me to set goals, and I find myself planning out 2014 with big and little projects.
So here they are:
1. Settle on a WIP to complete before spring. I’ve been dithering between a fantasy chapter book and an historical fiction spanning 6 centuries. I’ve just registered for a plot bootcamp in mid-March, and I need something to take — so fantasy it is (no research required). There will be dragons.
2. Plan my next research trip, needed for that historical fiction project. Norway, England, Scotland, and Wales. June and July. Are you jealous yet?
3. Start noodling around with the sequel to Kenning Magic. I have a basket slowly filling with scraps of paper on which I’ve jotted plot notes. The setting moves to Sarony, so I’ll need a map of that country. Pintz returns with a new friend. Here also there will be dragons.
4. And finally, to my friends and followers, a soppy thank you for all your interest, comments, support, and suggestions. A writer is nothing without readers, and readers who talk back are the best kind.
😀 Good plans. Wish I could go with you to Norway.

As New Year resolutions go, this sounds like a good list. If you need any tips on where to go in the UK, just shout!

Let me know when you’re in Wales — it would be good to meet up. And of course Wales is the land of dragons par excellence — the last dragon was supposedly seen near Cardigan in the 18th century…
